AccorHotels: Discovering the world’s tastes

Try fine bistro cuisine in Paris, homemade honey beer in San Francisco or fish caught yourself in Thailand. Discover the regional delicacies of AccorHotels on your next Incentive trip. In accordance with the saying “the way to the heart is through the stomach”, the luxury houses of the international hotel group serve typical specialities. A comprehensive travel experience not only includes immersion into foreign cultures but also culinary “discovery”. Fairmont St. Andrews, for example, serves “The Kilted Kittock”, an aromatic Scottish ale from the local Eden brewery. Homemade honey beer is also on offer in the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto – the honey used for it comes from the hotel-owned beekeeping operation. During the “Sofitel Wine Days” in autumn, guests can enjoy the precious drink in all its facets at the same time as grapes are harvested in France.

The new room concept is already being implemented in the nine new hotels that will be opened in 2017 in Barcelona, Manchester, Glasgow, Zurich, Berlin, Munich and Freiburg, and will be first presented in the Motel One Berlin Upper West in spring 2017.

Visa updates for India and Kazakhstan

Starting January 1, Austrians no longer need visas for Kazakhstan. Fingerprints will be required in the future for entry in India. Here is the precise procedure: Commencing January 1, 2017, the consulate requires that all travelers to India personally submit fingerprint data to the BLS International Agency in Vienna, which will then be valid for five years. Because of this, our visa support team can no longer handle the initial application for an Indian visa on your behalf. However, we can organize the collection of the passport (plus any fees) after the visa has been issued. We need authorization and the passport receipt from each traveler to do this.

You will need to make a prior appointment with the BLS International Agency to make your visa application and submit your fingerprint data. Address: 17 Hegelgasse, 1010 Vienna, Tel: 01/94372-72, info@blsindiavisa.com

This procedure is only necessary for your first trip to India. Our visa service can provide you with the usual support for all subsequent trips (visaaustria@ax-travel.at).

USA Visa: No Glasses Allowed in Pictures!

Attention all who wear glasses! If you are travelling to the USA, you need to comply with newly-imposed guidelines (photo requirements) for your visa portrait picture.

From now on, when you apply for a visa, they will no longer accept any pictures where the applicant is wearing glasses. The only exceptions to this are people whose glasses actually cannot be removed for medical reasons. In such cases, this needs to be proven by a doctor.

In pictures with glasses, the frame of the glasses must not cover the eye. Also, there must not be any reflections or shadows that obscure the eye. In addition, your clothing in the visa picture needs to be ordinary day-to-day attire – not a uniform. You can consult the new rules here.
