EVA AIR will fly direct to Taipei from March 2018

EVA AIR is increasing its flight frequencies and next year will commence three direct flights between Vienna and Taipei. The existing four weekly flights from Vienna via Bangkok to Taipei will remain unchanged. This means the private Taiwanese airline will be able to offer a daily connection from Vienna from March 10. The new non-stop flights from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) will depart every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 23:30 and will land at Vienna Schwechat (VIE) at 06:35 the following day. The return flight, with flight number BR66, will leave Vienna every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 12:25 and land in Taipei at 07:15 on the following day. EVA AIR will continue to serve the route with a modern Boeing 777-300ER in a three-class configuration with Economy, Elite and Royal Laurel Class.

Non-stop to Tallinn with Nordica

Nordica was established in September 2015 and is 100% under Estonian state ownership. It shares a booking platform as part of a close partnership with LOT Polish Airlines (tickets are issued with “LO” flight numbers). NORDICA passengers are therefore able to earn and redeem miles as part of the “Miles&More” air miles program. They fly on a modern fleet comprising aircraft of the CRJ 900 and CRJ 700 types. All prices include a full 23 kg of checked baggage. Check-in is handled at the relevant Star Alliance terminal – in Vienna with Austrian Airlines and in Munich with Lufthansa. TAP Air Portugal expands its offering

In its 2017/18 Winter Timetable, the airline TAP Air Portugal is increasing its number of flights to and from Germany. There is a new daily connection between Düsseldorf and Lisbon, where passengers can simply connect onto the airline’s long-haul flight routes to North and South America as well as Africa. The number of flights to Hamburg and Berlin is also being increased by four more each compared to last Winter. This is the same frequency as there was this Summer. TAP Air Portugal currently flies from Berlin to Lisbon once daily and is offering an additional connection every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The daily connection from Hamburg will now be supplemented with a second flight every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. All these connections will also be offered this Winter.

Valet parking service at Vienna Airport

The new “Easy Parking” is now available for booking in combination with Parking Lot 4 and Parking Lot C. The new premium parking service will allow business travelers in particular to start their flight with even more speed and ease.

  • Your car will be parked in either the VIP Zone in Parking Lot 4 or in a reserved parking space in Parking Lot C, whichever you prefer.
  • You can collect your keys 24 hours a day on any day at the Parking Lot P4 cash desk

New cooperation for Emirates and flydubai

Emirates and flydubai now fly jointly with “Codeshare” agreements to 29 destinations worldwide. The new partner network means they now offer more routes around the world. Baggage is checked through to the final destination and frequent flyers will get their money’s worth too as they can earn air miles on all flydubai Codeshare flights. The partnership between Emirates and flydubai will be continually expanded with further connections.

Hilton brings fitness equipment into the hotel room

For sporty guests: Hilton is to offer a new room category so you can work out in your hotel room. Exercise without anyone watching and whenever you want. In the “Five Feet to Fitness” concept, guests will find fitness facilities in their room, including an ergometer, weights and a fitness mat. Fitness and yoga videos can be played using a touchscreen display. Sports drinks will also be supplied. The concept is being tested first at Hotel Parc 55 in San Francisco. Other hotels will soon follow suit, including in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York and San Diego.

WESTbahn adding additional stations in Vienna

Starting in December, the WESTbahn train will not only be running every thirty minutes: it will also service the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and Praterstern stations in Vienna.

After the schedule change on December 10, 2017, the WESTbahn train will travel between Vienna and Salzburg every thirty minutes. There will be two lines for this, each named after the WESTbahn colors:

  • “WESTgreen” will depart from Vienna’s Westbahnhof station as before
  • “WESTblue” will start from Vienna’s Praterstern station

The new WESTblue line starts at Praterstern and runs west via the stations Wien Mitte, Rennweg, Quartier Belvedere, Wien Hauptbahnhof platforms 1-2 (underground) and Meidling. Both lines always stop in St. Pölten, Amstetten, Linz, Wels, Attnang-Puchheim and Salzburg.

Travel times will also be shortened, meaning that a journey from Vienna to St. Pölten will take 19 minutes, and from Vienna to Linz will take 1 hour 6 minutes. Additionally, starting in March 2018 there will be more early morning and late evening connections.

Iberia launches new Premium Economy cabin

Iberia is in the lead as the first airline to introduce an intermediate class for routes between Spain and Latin America. The Premium Economy Class is already available for flights to Mexico City, next will be Bogota, Chicago and New York.

Qatar removes visa requirement for Austrian citizens

Citizens of 80 countries – including Austria – will no longer need to apply for a visa when traveling to Qatar. Now they will receive a free permit on arrival for multiple entries and exits if they can present a transit ticket or return ticket. For the citizens of 33 countries – including Austria, Germany, Switzerland – this approval is valid for 180 days, during which they can stay in Qatar for a total of 90 days. Nationals of 47 additional countries can spend up to 30 days in the emirate and extend this period by an additional 30 days if needed. These countries include the USA, Russia, Great Britain, China, Japan and Australia.
