Austrian: Wi-Fi now available on short haul flights

Austrian Airlines has been equipping their short and medium haul flights to go “online” since the beginning of May. All 31 Airbuses in their fleet have already been technically upgraded and will progressively be “activated” with a software update throughout the month of May. Passengers can now even use the internet above the clouds and choose from three different rates on short and medium haul flights: FlyNet Message from  €3, FlyNet Surf from €7, and FlyNet Stream from €12 per flight. Whilst FlyNet Message enables the use of messaging services such as email, WhatsApp, or iMessage, passengers can use the rate FlyNet Surf to additionally surf the internet. Streaming is made possible with the FlyNet Stream rate. These packages can be paid by credit card or the payment service PayPal. By request of passengers, phone calls will continue to be prohibited onboard.
