New ÖBB Timetable: Vienna Central Station will now connect all provincial capitals

As of the 13th of December, the new Vienna Main Station and Meidling Main station will be the new transportation hub for all Railjets, ÖBB intercity trains, Euro City and ICEs. The most important change is that the ÖBB long-distance trains of the Western routes (from Bregenz or Salzburg) will no longer hold at Westbahnhof, but rather in Vienna Meidling or Vienna Main station – with 2 connections per hour directly to Vienna Airport. Train passengers also benefit from shorter travelling times. From Salzburg train travel is approximately at 2hrs 15 min to Vienna Meidling (U6-connection), in 2hrs 22 min at Vienna Main Station (U1 connection – in 5 minutes on St. Stephen’s Square) and in 2hrs 49 min they will find themselves directly at Vienna International Airport. The southern, eastern and northern routes will also benefit with Vienna Main Station as a hub – travelers from Graz will get a direct connection to Vienna airport without having to change trains. The Vienna Westbahnhof still remains an important regional transport station. For more information on the new ÖBB schedules please go here. www.oebb.at
